Description
Print run of 599 numbered copies (ours is number 63) of the complete reproduction of the Pluteus 40.7 manuscript preserved at the Laurentian Library in Florence. The leather binding with studs and metal corners and rich embossed decorations faithfully reproduces the binding of the original as it appears today. The Pluteo 40.7 manuscript preserves one of the oldest codices of the Divine Comedy, copied around 1360 ca. The text, on a single column with splendid illuminated initials, is accompanied by dense marginal notes attributable to the end of the 14th century and is illustrated by more than 130 large miniatures that reveal the hand of at least 4 different master illuminators. The codex was part of Cosimo de' Medici's personal library. The volume is accompanied by a Commentary by Sonia Chiodo, Teresa De Robertis, Gennaro Ferrante and Andrea Mazzucchi
