Signature, date, and title at the bottom left. Giuseppe Canella was one of the most important Veronese landscape and view painters of the 19th century. He made numerous trips throughout Europe, bringing back glimpses and views of European cities, which allowed him to study Flemish painting in particular. In 1835, he returned to Italy, dedicating himself to Italian landscape painting, especially of Lombard cities, which, under Flemish influence, were characterized by a clear departure from rigid classical vedutism and by the choice of particular lighting and color effects. The painting presented here, although signed and consistent with Canella's work in subject matter and pictorial style, is stylistically less effective in execution, thus casting doubt on its definitive attribution to the artist; nevertheless, it remains a work of considerable quality. The painting is presented in a period frame.","brand":"Di Mano in Mano Co Uk","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":56499602063739,"sku":"ARAROT0327301","price":4316.0,"currency_code":"GBP","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0909\/3880\/2555\/files\/ARAROT0327301_1_fb8a2f1e-3b00-4e16-aef1-f9b41bac2d1f.jpg?v=1791583845","url":"https:\/\/www.dimanoinmano.co.uk\/products\/antique-painting-signed-giuseppe-canella-lecco-pier-1837","provider":"Di Mano in Mano Co Uk","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
