Rinaldini, who began with figurative art, later developed his own style marked by informal expressionism, in which the material is fragmented to create a tangle of filaments that are then blended by the balance of tonal relationships and the refinement of the colors, especially the pinks, blues, and majolica whites. Within this network of colors, the objects seem suspended in a soft, dreamlike atmosphere, while the light, which insinuates itself between the interstices, composes tenuous fragments of a surreal reality. His recurring subjects include diaphanous and fragile little girls with sweet, delicate, caressing gazes, yet also elusive, impenetrable, and enigmatic.
