Baroque Coat of Arms of the Pasqui Family in Painted Wood

Large Baroque coat of arms in poplar wood, dating back to the early 18th century, originating from Florence. This handcrafted piece is adorned with intricate polychromy and partial gilding. The scrollwork, characterized by symmetrical volutes of architectural inspiration, is topped by a mask framed by wing-like leafy elements. At the bottom, a laurel garland extends laterally, serving as a backdrop. Decorative details such as lambrequins, bows with tassels, and a rosette-shaped button further enrich the composition. At the center of the coat of arms, enclosed in a shield with scrolls, is the emblem of the Pasqui family: a field of azure with a flesh-colored hand and an eight-pointed gold star, accompanied by red and gold bands. The gilded decorations and profiles contribute to a three-dimensional effect, characteristic of trompe-l'oeil. Some restorations and color touch-ups are present. The Pasqui family, an ancient Tuscan lineage, is documented since 1200 and maintained a stable presence in the Santo Spirito district of Florence until 1300, with Florentine citizenship obtained in 1606.
