Roman Trumeau in Bois de Violette, Mid-18th Century

Roman trumeau from the second quarter of the 18th century, featuring a walnut structure veneered in fine bois de violette. The surface is enriched with sophisticated fillets and phytomorphic inlays in maple, creating intricate decorative patterns. The base consists of three drawers with an elegantly curved front, while the pilasters, pierced and carved with a scroll movement, are located on the front and side mounts, where the piece expands through skilled construction. The drop-leaf door reveals a writing compartment with side drawers and a central open space, along with a secret in the sliding panel. The upper section features mercury mirror doors and two candle drawers. Inside, a structure of three drawers and open spaces is completed by a crest with carved scroll moldings. The carved parts, such as frames and scrolls, are ebonized, and the front feet end in brackets. The interior of the drawers is made of poplar, and the keyholes, in chiseled and gilded bronze, are antique. The piece has undergone restorations, preserving its historical and artistic value.
