Description
This edition of Montesquieu's Opera omnia (1689-1755) takes up a previous edition of Grasset in 6 volumes, printed in Basel in 1761, which collected all of Montesquieu's published works up to that year, including some posthumous works. This was a corrected and enlarged edition, as indicated on the title page, compared to previous collections and is one of the rarest editions to be found among the eighteenth-century editions of the French political philosopher's complete works. In our example, a seventh volume is added to the 6 canonical volumes of the Grasset 1771 edition in Amsterdam, with a title page in continuity with the Grasset edition, published by Arkstée et Merkus also in Amsterdam, with different printing characters. Tome VII: Lettres familieres
